Single Sign-On For Vodafone
SAML SSO in Jira and Confluence
Vodafone is the largest mobile and fixed network operator in Europe, it is the world’s largest IoT connectivity provider, they also operate mobile and fixed networks in 21 countries and partner with mobile networks in 48 more.
Vodafone has an environment where all the users are stored in ‘OKTA’. It has its servers Jira, Confluence for which user permissions and groups are stored in OKTA(identity provider).
Vodafone was looking for a Single Sign-On solution that enabled their users to seamlessly login once authenticated on Okta even if the user was not present in the Atlassian application. If the user does not exist it needs to be created and on successful authentication from IDP it has to be assigned to a group. This can be achieved by configuring registration according to the user role.
Solutions We Provided to Vodafone:
miniOrange SSO plugins support auto user creation by default. Not only can the user be created on successful authentication from IDP but, the created users can also be mapped to a custom default group. This unique feature saved Vodafone a lot of time and resources to create and map users to groups which otherwise had to be done manually.
miniOrange successfully delivered a Single Sign On solution to meet Vodafone’s requirements. By fulfilling the requirements of Vodafone we were able to include them in our journey of innovations. Being a software security company we know the importance of organization security and hence build secure quality products for our clients along with world-class support.
Key benefits of the solution to Vodafone :
- Auto User Creation on successful authentication from IDP if the user is not present in Atlassian application and ability to match users using their email address as well as username.
- Auto-assign a custom default group to the incoming users.
- Easy mapping of the users from IDP group to Atlassian groups.
What does miniOrange provide on the Atlassian server?
miniOrange SSO (Single Sign-on) provides secure auto login to all your apps in cloud or on-premise, from any mobile platform including iPhone, Android. It quickly increases security of information and resources for your Atlassian applications without worrying about time for initial setup or future upgrades.
How does it work?
miniOrange SAML Single Sign On (SSO) Add-On acts as a SAML Service Provider which is configured to establish the trust between the Atlassian applications and Okta as an Identity Provider to securely authenticate the user.
The Service Provider redirects the SSO Request to Okta for authentication. Okta sends back the SSO Response to the Service Provider. On receipt of the SSO Response, the user is granted access to log in and access to the resource or application. If the user is not present, it is created on successful authentication from Okta. The user can access all the applications for which SSO has been configured.
SAML Single Sign on is the best add-on that works with all Identity Providers. Users can sign into Atlassian application with your SAML 2.0 capable Identity Provider. We support all known IdPs - Google Apps, ADFS, Azure AD, Okta, OneLogin, Salesforce, Shibboleth, SimpleSAMLphp, OpenAM, Centrify, Ping, RSA, IBM, Oracle, Bitium, WSO2, NetIQ, miniOrange, etc.
